Synopsis
The FCA has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling financial crime as a top priority in its five year strategy. The recent approach of the FCA has been to make full use of its supervisory powers as an alternative to enforcement against firms. In this webinar regulatory lawyer Guy Wilkes and Financial Crime expert Jessica Cath will talk about their experience in dealing with the FCA, including practical strategies for avoiding unwanted regulatory attention and managing interactions with the FCA. The session will also provide guidance on responding to feedback letters, when it’s appropriate to challenge the FCA’s position, practical tips for dealing with remediation projects and skilled persons reviews alongside strategies for avoiding enforcement.
Guy Wilkes is a partner at the law firm Mishcon de Reya, specialises in regulatory disputes and has been involved in some of the FCA’s highest profile investigations against both individuals and institutions. He was formerly a member of the FCA’s senior leadership team and had responsibility for developing enforcement strategy, especially in relation to financial crime and anti-money laundering where he chaired the FCA’s cross-divisional working group.
