The body for compliance consultants who advise firms regulated in the UK.

The APCC is active in enhancing the professional standards of compliance consultants and is recognised as a trade body by the FCA and other regulators. This provides our members with significant benefits in terms of direct access to the Regulators as well as business leads.  The APCC often works in conjunction with the FCA to pilot or test new initiatives, and we also provide with valuable feedback on specific subjects as requested by them.

ESG and The Consumer Duty: A strategy for positive change? Kathryn and Katie will give an overview of the current projects with Irwin Mitchell as well as looking at what the expectations will be for industry under the new world of full ‘Consumer Duty’

2022 Regulatory Outlook and Horizon Scanning – Jamie will present an overview of the 2022 Financial Services Regulatory Outlook, focusing on the most significant themes that will impact the regulation and supervision of the UK the financial services sector. This will include changes to the regulatory perimeter to capture new products and services, the FCA’s priorities and also the supervisory approach.

Looking for the Benefits of Brexit – The UK Government has appointed a Minister for Brexit Opportunities – in this session Paul will analyse where opportunity arising from Brexit  may be found in the financial services sector.

11.30 – 12.00 Sha Hussain – Founder, The Wellness Movement

Authentic happiness and wellbeing – Sha will look at five core element of psychological happiness and wellbeing, the five elements are Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning and Accomplishment. In this session we shall explore what happiness and wellbeing looks like for us as individuals and how we can implement the PERMA model to achieve our potential.

12.00 – 12.40 Day 1 – Keynote Speaker – Val Smith – Head of Authorisations, Banking, Payments and Insurance Divisions, Financial Conduct Authority

Val will be providing an update on the current FCA Authorisations plans and projects for 2022 – There will be a Q&A session with the regulator

Against financial abuse – Confidence to cure! Sadly, financial abuse is becoming increasingly more visible on a global scale. It can occur irrespective of socio-economic category, level of education, race, sex or ethnicity. Every day there are people suffering from financial abuse, often with very little knowledge of where to go for much-needed support.  As advising professionals you are perfectly placed to spot and potentially eradicate these threats by simply being more aware of the signs and the support that you can provide.

Operational Resilience and the expectations of the Regulator – Ben will be providing an update on the regulator’s expectations around Operational Resilience and how this can be supported and embedded into your clients business.

Consumer Duty; from theory to practice – Philip will provide insights on the practical implementation challenges of the FCA’s Consumer Duty for your clients (and how you can support). He will also explore how the FCA will supervise them in the post-Consumer Duty world.

‘The Balancing Act of Compensation’. Here Lila will speak about the rising cost of the levy and the trends, phoenixing success stories, plus an FSCS overview on the FCA’s Compensation Framework Review.
