The APCC is active in enhancing the professional standards of compliance consultants and is recognised as a trade body by the FCA and other regulators. This provides our members with significant benefits in terms of direct access to the Regulators as well as business leads.  The APCC often works in conjunction with the FCA to pilot or test new initiatives, and we also provide with valuable feedback on specific subjects as requested by them.

Peter will look at the key challenges envisaged for 2021, and provide scope of the regulators planned supervision.

How well have firms embedded SMCR into their ‘Governance and Conduct’.  Simon will look at the true challenges of SMCR in a post covid ‘business as usual’ world

Integrity and Culture at Work, Jim will deep dive into some classic workplace dilemmas, hosting an interactive session looking a modern-day culture and conduct issues.

12.30-13.10 Sarah Wallace – Partner at Constantine Law

Non-financial misconduct.  How it can be ‘toxic’ and ‘career limiting’ in the workplace, damage culture, well being and mental health and trigger scrutiny from an FCA regulatory perspective.  Sarah will deconstruct a case study in this area. 

13.10 – 13.30 Create Solutions – Karen Shenton and Adrian Golifer.

Out of sight out of mind, discussion surrounding the risks of lock down and how the transitioning out of lock down will occur for consultants and regulated firms.

Emma will provide an update of the supervision hub work (Firm Contact Centre)  and look ahead at their planned projects for 2021 as well as giving an oversight of the issues and challenges that the Supervision Hub are seeing from regulated firms.

10:00-10:50am Morning Keynote Speaker, Graham Barrow – Author of the Dark Money Files

‘The story behind the story’ – Graham will talk about the use of UK shell companies behind the Beirut explosion and the surrounding leaked intelligence, as well as a follow up to his last session on the ‘BBC’s Panorama’ special and look at how deep is Russian interference.

11.00 – 11.40 Dr Roger Miles; Faculty Lead, UK Finance Academy (Conduct and Culture)

FCA Culture Assessments – what is the regulator really going to be looking for when they commence Culture Assessments in 2021.  What is the true definition of ‘exemplary conduct’?

11:40-12:10pm Nick Andrews (Managing Director at MPAC Ltd)and Stephen Ryan (COO of CipherTrace)

Crypto and block-chain, how does the work being currently undertaken in the US affect and translate across to UK firms. This will also look at the true Financial Crime elements and Money Laundering issues.

Tim will provide an update on the post Brexit/post Covid regulatory world and give an overview of the key Policy Issues that will be relevant for all regulated firms as we move back to ‘business as usual’.
