City & Financial Global’s summit on the Future of UK Financial Services Regulation will be taking place in Central London on 27th September 2022.
In his recent Mansion House speech, the Chancellor, Nadhim Zahawi, outlined a radical vision for reform of the financial services industry which, he claimed, would deliver an open, green, and technologically advanced financial services sector that is globally competitive.
Part of this agenda is the Financial Services and Markets Bill, introduced on 20th July, which the Chancellor described as “the most significant piece of financial services legislation for over a decade”. It is intended to seize the opportunities of Brexit, tailoring financial services regulation to UK markets to bolster the competitiveness of the UK as a global financial centre and deliver better outcomes for consumers and businesses.
The practical implications of the proposed reforms will be explored in depth at the summit.
We are delighted that the following have kindly agreed to give keynote addresses:
- Sarah Pritchard, Executive Director for Markets, Financial Conduct Authority
- Vicky Saporta, Executive Director for Prudential Policy, Bank of England
- John Owen, Director, Financial Services, HM Treasury
The Summit will also address the many specific regulatory changes that are being introduced to enhance the UK’s leading position in key sectors such as capital raising (e.g. Mark Austin’s Secondary Capital Raising Review), cryptoassets, ESG and stewardship, green finance, insurance (e.g. the Solvency II Review), and FinTech.
